This compact and environmentally conscious city of 1.2 million people has a bountiful urban environment: miles of harbourfront promenades, lush parks and a striking blend of contemporary and historic architecture. It’s also the birthplace of New Nordic cuisine and Danish Modern design, and the quality of the food, drink and shopping upholds these legacies.

hotel sp34

Of the limited selection of boutique hotels found in Copenhagen, one of the standouts without a doubt is Hotel SP34. It is fully equipped with 118 rooms, four bars, two bustling restaurants and a rooftop terrace that will allow you to capture a view of the city. Hanging out in the hotel lobby can prove to be just as relaxing as hibernating in your room. Grab a drink and bask in Danish hospitality. You're in good hands here.

Area / Latin Quarter

Vibe / Cool and contemporary Danish-design to perfect your hygge practice or up your wine game.

Cafe & Bakery

In recent years, Copenhagen has become obsessed with bread, and this off-the-beaten path institution is clear evidence of that obsession. The perfect place to sit next to the expansive windows that open up to the street, indulge in a deconstructed Danish breakfast, great coffee and relax. You are among friends here dining with the locals and watching the bakers perfect their sourdoughs. Do not leave without trying their legendary almond croissant from their walk-up take away window. Or any one of their pastries for that matter.

Area / Inner Nørrebro

Vibe / A bright sunlit eatery bustling with locals offering a new take on Danish coziness.

israels plads / torvehallerne

Public Space / Market

This space was one of the first places we stumbled upon after arriving in Copenhagen. We stopped into Torvehallerne, their vibrant food market bustling with locals drinking wine on the sidewalks, and were immediately hungry. Grab your streetfood of choice and head over to this diverse public space directly across the street to relax, enjoy, and people watch. Every hour the sun is out is precious time to bask in warm temperatures and enjoy the areas of public space scattered throughout the city.

Area / Central CPH

Vibe / The epitome of public space reaching its full potential directly across from the coolest food hall in the heart of the city centre.

This vibrant neighbourhood located just north of the city is where you will find a wide array of restaurants, bars, cafes and shops. It is the place to stroll and wander aimlessly when you just want to contemplate and admire the colourful buildings, or when you want to enjoy a stellar meal. It is here where you can grab the perfect coffee at Coffee Collective or a sweet treat from Mirabelle. We also highly recommend renting a bike and discovering the neighbourhood via cycle. You will find (as we did) that biking in Copenhagen is the most relaxing and therapeutic feeling one would be privileged to experience whilst visiting.

Area / Nørrebro

Vibe / The up and coming hipster-cool neighbourhood with a strong coffee and restaurant culture.

aamanns deli

When we first arrive to a new city, we immediately seek out the food. And we found Copenhagen encapsulated in a couple bites at Aamanns Deli. These smorrebrod classics are incredibly architectural - the way every topping and garnish is strategically assembled and compliments each ingredient speaks volumes to their craft. If a traditional smorrebrod with pickled herring or smoked fish isn't your thing, do not worry - the deli is sure to have an option that will work for you and your palette that will be hard to refuse.

Area / Inner Oesterbro

Vibe / Casual Danish bistro using the freshest seasonal ingredients serving up smorrebrod classics.

8 house

Designed by Danish-born architect Bjarke Ingels, rent a bike and travel outside of the city to visit a multi-use development complex designed in the shape of a figure eight. 8 house is designed to offer residential living quarters for people at different stages of life: young couples, families with children and singles, and emphasizing design as a means to coexist.

Area / Ørestad

Vibe / A three-dimensional neighbourhood promoting spontaneous encounters and neighbour interactions.

designmuseum danmark

If you are an admirer or have an affinity for Danish furniture design as much as we do, you'll want to dedicate a portion of your trip to visiting the Designmuseum in Copenhagen. One of the most satisfying exhibits, "The Danish Chair" showcases the collection of chairs that were critical in shaping Denmark's reputation in furniture design across the world. You will become encapsulated by 110 classic Danish chairs, iconic pieces from Hans Wegner to Arne Jacobsen amongst many, providing an all-encompassing interpretation of furniture designs as works of art.

Area / Indre By (Inner City)

Vibe / An escape from the city to celebrate and admire the iconic collections of Danish designers.

If you have the opportunity to eat at this restaurant while visiting Copenhagen, consider yourself tapped into the Danish food scene. Not all tasting menu's start your meal off with the most incredible loaf of sourdough for the table (baked by sister-establishment, the aforementioned, Mirabelle) but this place does just that. Trying your best not to fill up on break, every course highlights the quality of ingredients, skill and immensely knowledgable front of staff and back of house. The space is warm and inviting making it exactly where you would want to leave your appetite in the hands of this talented team.

Area / Outer Nørrebro

Vibe / Clean and minimal Scandinavian design mastering the art of Nordic cuisine.

admiralgade 26

This relaxing atmosphere not only makes great food their sole priority, but their impeccable service makes you feel like family. As you enter the space, you are greeted with bright windows, a collection of beautiful mis-mashed mid-century modern chairs that are quintessentially Danish, and the incredible aroma of seasonal dishes on the line waiting to be brought out to stylish patrons dining amongst friends. We found ourselves switching up the chairs during dinner service to keep the vibe interesting, fun and comfortable.

Area / Indre By (Inner City)

Vibe / Japanese zen with Danish thoughtfulness in Old Town.

nobis hotel

The exterior facade, a landmark building originally erected in 1903 for the Royal Danish Academy of Music, paints a quintessential scene from a Wes Anderson film. Step inside and it is utterly stunning with its vaulted ornamental ceilings combined with clean and minimal Scandinavian designed furniture. This boutique hotel located a block from the beautiful Tivoli Gardens in central Copenhagen is redefined luxury making the splurge for stay well worth it.

Area / Inner Vesterbro

Vibe / Danish Neoclassicism meets Swedish sensibility with a comfortable elegance.
